South Yorkshire Police - Pre Xmas success - Dec 2010

South Yorkshire Police are keeping ahead of the criminals by cleverly deploying RedWeb GPS and RF tracking technology to snare criminals.

'Just before midnight on Monday 13 December, a trap house alarm was activated. It was initially thought to be a false alarm by an attending PC. However when the police logged on to the RedWeb tracking web site, the software showed that the trackable assets had not moved. The scene was then attended and it was discovered that the items were indeed missing.'

'Confused, the police then switched on the RedWeb 'RF wand' in order to establish the exact position of the asset. The device began to react straight away. The officer then tracked outside the property and the RF wand led him to the same corner of a nearby flat. A search of the adjacent property revealed the assets 'secreted' in a large cupboard in the exact area the RF wand had indicated. Both occupants were arrested and admitted the burglary.'
