Police forces across the UK are using RedWeb Security Trackers to catch and convict criminals.

Sting bikes

The Metropolitan Police recently used a RedWeb Tracker fitted to a sting Vespa that was left on a side street in south west London. The Vespa was stolen and tracked to a well-known thief's house, and then on to a handler's address. The house was raided, and 15 further stolen bikes were recovered. A man in his 20s remains on police bail.

"What amazed us was that the Tracker battery was still at over 80 per cent, even though the vehicle had been in the field for three weeks. The accuracy of the unit was spot on – it even showed the bike in the right place within the garden on the satellite image."

Vehicle break ins

In another Met operation using a vehicle fitted with a RedWeb Tracker, a man broke into the vehicle to steal its contents, and, realising it was a sting, tried to destroy the tracking kit hidden in the boot. The unit remained in tact and captured the entire episode. The man received a four-month custodial sentence as a result.

Decoy bikes

Another UK force is using our Trackers concealed within the bikes to trace bike thieves – a big problem in the area. Decoy bikes are left in theft hot spots such as stations and shopping centres, and their theft is tracked to the exact location where they're being held, which has led to the arrest of the group of thieves. One operation resulted in solving a number of other thefts, as stolen goods were found at the suspect's flat.

Capture house

One of the police forces we work with has run an operation that uses a capture house to gather evidence against house burglars, and the handlers of stolen goods. A house was set up with electronic equipment fitted with RedWeb GPS trackers. The house was broken into, and the stolen goods tracked to the exact room within the house where the stolen goods were held. Three people were arrested as a result.
