Lead stolen from hall for seventh time

Published on Tue 3 Jun 2008

Thieves have stolen lead from the roof of Shirehampton Public Hall for the seventh time. It is one of numerous attacks on community centres that have left Bristol City Council with large repair bills. In the past 18 months, thefts of lead have caused damage and costs totalling an estimated £20,000. A number of churches in Bristol have also been targeted, with insurance claims from the diocese reaching nearly £150,000 in 2007.
