A Yarmouth church has become the latest victim of a spate of raids that have cost thousands of pounds across Norfolk. St Mary's Church was raided twice in less than 24 hours by thieves who ripped two large pieces of lead from a flat roof at the rear of the building. Rev Irene Knowles said the exact cost of the lead stolen, along with damage caused to the roof, is not known yet, but it amounted to thousands of pounds. St Mary's is not the first to be the targeted: lead was also stolen from St Thomas Church and St Andrew's Church suffered £16,500 of damage after lead theft caused the roof to leak, ruining the church organ.
